The Journey - 15 (50 mn)

Fifteenth episode

« The Journey » is a 14½ hour documentary film by Peter Watkins, made between the years 1983 and 1985 on several continents, released on film in 1987 at the Toronto Film Festival. It is structured around the theme of nuclear weapons, military spending and poverty. Ordinary people are asked about their awareness of these issues.
Peter Watkins spent eighteen months editing the more than 100 hours of footage he compiled, weaving together extended family interviews, documentation of the global arms race, recollections of survivors of the bombings in Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Hamburg, community psychodramas of possible disaster scenarios, and works by other artists. The film is monumental both in its critique and analysis and in its effort to inspire and occasion new ways of using information and the media.
This global peace film was produced in 1983-86 by the Swedish Peace & Arbitration Society and local support groups in Sweden, Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, USSR, Mexico, Japan, Scotland, Polynesia, Mozambique, Denmark, France, Norway, West Germany, with post-production support from the National Film Board in Montreal, Canada.
It was screened at the Mexico City International Festival of Contemporary Cinema (FICCO) in February 2007. Between April 25 and May 1, 2007, all 19 parts of the film were screened at the Austrian Filmmuseum in Vienna.
The 5 DVD box set contains the 19 episodes of the series.

Casualties of waves

Microwaves, Wi-fi, 3G, mobile phones, electrical network…
We are all electrosensitive. Our bodies are sensitive to electromagnetic waves going through our environment. Intangible and invisible, these electromagnetic waves are nowadays everywhere, they have invaded our daily lives. For example, France has about 64 million cell phones subscribers. And over 6 billions worldwide, 87 % of the human population of the Earth. This insidious pollution results in a slow and gradual electrification of the human body. A new disease is emerging: electrohypersensitivity.
