"In 1978, I made my first trip to West Africa. More than a quarter of a century later, I've retraced my steps in search of those who marked the memory of the young man I was.  A lot has changed since then, and I find Dadé, a wise man living deep in the Sahel. Blind for ten years, he welcomes me like a son. He tells me about one of his sons who has gone to Paris and of whom he has no news, and asks me to find him. From then on in Paris, and then again in Mali, the film sets out on a journey in search of a lost son. This film is a journey into an African family story, into two worlds, one in Africa with its traditions and hopes, and the other in Europe with its dreams and disappointments."
