Théodore Ier, roi des Corses est un docu-fiction sur le parcours insulaire du roi Théodore de Neuhoff, une sorte de « road movie » à travers les paysages et sites corses d’aujourd’hui avec, pour héros voyageur, Théodore sous la forme d'une grande marionnette.

De juin à septembre 2003, à Matzenheim le dernier frère du collège Saint Joseph cède sa place à un directeur laïc. C’est la fin d’une histoire. Pourtant une attente s’exprime : quelque chose de cette histoire doit perdurer, « un état d’esprit, des valeurs ». À partir de cette attente, le film revisite l’histoire de Matzenheim. 

Marizette, Christiane, Pierre, Léon, José sont quelques uns des acteurs, drôles et émouvants, d’une incroyable lutte, celle des paysans du Larzac contre l’Etat, affrontement du faible contre le fort, qui les a unis dans un combat sans merci pour sauver leurs terres.

Il y eut le D-Day et la bataille de Normandie puis il y eut la bataille de Lorraine. La première est dans toutes les mémoires, source inépuisable de héros pour Hollywood. La seconde est oubliée des livres d’Histoire. Pourtant, cet épisode est considéré comme un événement majeur par les historiens américains.
